1. Introduction

DocStash ("the App") is a personal document organizer for Android and iOS. It helps you save, categorize, and manage important documents such as rent receipts, utility bills, medical reports, insurance papers, and more — all stored privately on your device.

This Privacy Policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is used, and your rights regarding your information.

2. Data We Collect

We do not collect any personal data.

DocStash does not have a server, user accounts, analytics, or tracking of any kind. There is no data sent over the internet by the App.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

The following information is stored locally on your device only:

• Documents: Images and PDF files that you choose to save through the App (via file picker or sharing from other apps).
• Metadata: Category labels, titles, notes, dates, amounts, and other details you enter for each document.
• Family members: Names and relations you add for tagging health documents (e.g., "Mom", "Dad").
• Custom categories: Any document types you create within the App.
• App preferences: Settings such as onboarding completion status, last-used category, and recent search terms.

All of this data is stored using your device's local storage (AsyncStorage and the app's file system directory). None of it is transmitted to any server.

4. Permissions

DocStash may request the following device permissions:

• File Picker Access: When you tap "Pick from Files" or "Pick Image", your device's system file picker opens. DocStash can only access the specific file you select — it cannot browse or read any other files on your device.
• Share Intent (Receive): DocStash can receive files shared from other apps (e.g., sharing a screenshot from your bank app). Only the file you explicitly share is received.
• Internet (minimal): The internet permission exists in the app manifest for development tooling (Expo/React Native). The App itself does not make any network requests in production.

5. Third-Party Services

DocStash does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or data collection services. No data is shared with any third party.

6. Data Sharing

When you use the "Share" feature within DocStash (e.g., sharing a document to WhatsApp), the file and its metadata are passed to the app you choose via your device's native sharing mechanism. DocStash does not control or track what happens to the data after it is shared.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

• You can delete any individual document from within the App at any time.
• Uninstalling the App will remove all stored data permanently.
• There is no cloud backup — once deleted, data cannot be recovered.

8. Children's Privacy

DocStash does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The App does not collect personal information from any user.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Effective Date." Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
